About this Blog

This blog is about my experience as a white American visiting Iran.  My beautiful wife is from Iran so we set off on a month long trek to visit her family in the city of Shiraz.  This is my unbiased view of what I experienced on my trip to Iran, I am not a political person so I am leaving all politics aside.  I went to Iran with an open mind, ignoring all the negative perceptions that most Americans have of Iran.
Overview:

From all the negative things I hear and see about Iran in the news I was expecting to be cavity searched at the airport, I was expecting to see military checkpoints everywhere, I was expecting to have my ID and visa checked often, I was expecting a visible military presence, I was expecting to be looked down upon by everyone, I was expecting to see big banners of the Ayatollah everywhere, I was expecting to see anti-American rallies….I did not see ANY of these things.  I just saw a normal city with people going about their business.
